Oldest Whittier market sold

first_imgWHITTIER – Thirty-one years ago Jae Hoon and Joon Tae Park emigrated from South Korea to the United States in search of a better life. That search led them to Whittier where they purchased the West Penn Market, 12604 Penn St., now at 55 years old the oldest grocery store in the city. “I’ve been here a long time thanks to my good neighbors,” said Jae Hoon Park, 70, of La Mirada, who with his wife has decided to retire and sell the store. “They are good people.” The Parks, have sold their neighborhood market to Aman Kuma Chodho and his wife, Reetu, of Whittier for $260,000.
