– in light of increase of fever, typhoid and other illnessesResidents living in the Amerindian community of Wakapao in the Lower Pomeroon River in Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) are calling for a resident doctor to be stationed in their community. This request came after there has been an increase of fever, typhoid, rashes and other illnesses contracted by residents within the community. One resident said that many persons were currently suffering from typhoid and it was expensive for them to access medical services on the coastland. A young lady explained that the Health Centre did not have sufficient drugs and equipment to provide the services needed by the people. She said that many persons have to travel long distances out from the community to conduct medical tests privately which can cost them as much as $6000.Toshao of the community, Lloyd Perriera when contacted said indeed there has been an increase of fever, typhoid as well as rashes within the community. Perriera said it was expensive to access medical services at Charity Oscar Joseph Hospital and Suddie Public Hospital, and urged those in authority to send a doctor to be stationed in the community to look at the medical needs of the residents. He noted that while the area has Community Health Workers (CHW), it still needs a medical practitioner to examine patients. Perriera also said it was about time Amerindians received the services that coastlanders were easily accessing. (Indra Natram)

FORT ST. JOHN, B.C. — The City of Fort St. John has released 2017’s final edition of building numbers which shows that the value of construction in the Energetic City has fallen to its lowest level since 2010.According to data published by the City, the value of construction during the month of December was just $178,000. Though that number is more than three times the $50,000 in construction started in December 2016, the five projects cap off what was a year with some of the lowest housing starts in several years. In total, the value of construction in Fort St. John last year was $54,666,000. That’s $26.8 million less than the value in 2016, and over $100 million lower than just two years ago. Just 10 single family detached homes were built in Fort St. John last year, compared to 23 built in 2016 and 94 built in 2014.- Advertisement -In contrast, the city did see an increase in the number of multiple family homes built. Seven buildings featuring 69 suites were started in 2017, totalling $19.6 million. Industrial construction made up the second highest category in terms of value, with a total of $14.3 million.Despite the drop in construction value compared to 2016, the City didn’t see a corresponding drop in revenue. The City brought in a total of $600,267.59 from permits and fees in 2017, which is only $72,000 less than last year.

Pep Guardiola’s agent insists he is in the dark over the Bayern Munich manager’s future plans.Guardiola is out of contract at the Bundesliga club next summer and Manchester City have been heavily linked with a move to try and secure the Spaniard’s services.City’s chief executive Ferran Soriano and football director Txiki Begiristain worked with Guardiola at Barcelona and are understood to be determined to prise him to the Etihad Stadium. The 44-year-old’s future should become clearer soon, with Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge revealing last week that talks are planned over his intentions in December. But his agent, Josep Maria Orobitg, says Guardiola has given no clue as to whether he will extend his contract or seek a new challenge elsewhere.“Not even I know what Pep’s intentions are,” Orobitg said.“We’ve had some intensive talks in the past few days, but when it comes to things like this, he’s very private.“He will make up his mind entirely based on his own impressions.”Guardiola has led Bayern to back-to-back Bundesliga titles, while they are five points clear at the top with a third of the current campaign gone.Orobitg said Guardiola is “very happy” in Munich but added: “At the end of the day, it is a decision he is going to take by himself.“One thing is for sure, however, and that is everybody around him will accept his decision, no matter what it is.” 1 Pep Guardiola

If your team conceded in that manner you would be devastated.“We had the most chances, the best of the chances, we have dominated for long periods. But the game is about putting the ball in the net and doing the basics right. We stopped doing the basics right in the last part of the game.“You get in a shape from the goalkeeper’s kick, you don’t commit a cheap foul, and when the foul happens you defend it properly, everybody back.“I was trying to get certain players back in the penalty area just to see the free-kick out. “But the tie’s not over. In 1981, when Performance Racing Network was founded, WSLM began a 38-year relationship with them as well to bring 100 percent of all NASCAR racing to the Kentuckiana area. Motor Racing Network partnered with Spire Motorsports as the sponsor of the No. 77 Motor Racing Network Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, driven by Reed Sorenson, for the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) Bojangles’ Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway. The livery will pay tribute to MRN’s 50 years as “The Voice of NASCAR” and celebrated 11 radio stations who have carried and supported NASCAR racing since the network’s inception.MRN’s 50 Year Partners:WBKR-FM, Owensboro, KYWBTR-FM, Carrollton, GAWDEV-AM/FM, Waterbury, VTWESC-FM, Greenville, SCWJCW-AM, Johnson City, TNWMMY-FM, West Jefferson, NCWMTN-AM, Morristown, TNWNDB-AM, Daytona Beach, FLWSLM-AM/FM, Salem, INWUSQ-FM, Winchester, VAWWGP-AM, Sanford, NC“Our radio partners are the original ambassadors of Motor Racing Network and this sport,” said Cheryl Knight, Director of Radio Partnerships. “Every one of our 600 stations has played a significant role in MRN’s growth and success. Having 11 stations air our broadcasts consistently since 1970 is remarkable and we were proud to honor them this weekend by placing their call letters on the No.77 Spire Motorsports Chevrolet.”The car finished 30th in the rain-delayed race that ended early Monday morning. White said she was honored to tour the historic Darlington track and meet drivers, team members and track managers from all around the nation. “Everyone was here,” said White. “There were so many from NASCAR’s history here for this race. Just being part of the energy at the track, in the stands and in the pits was extremely exciting. The track is only three years older than WSLM – having been built in 1950 and will be celebrating its 70th anniversary next year. WSLM will cross that milestone in 2023.”While many teams throwed back to “old school” paint schemes and team sponsors, Spire Motorsports felt nothing said “throwback” more than the historic radio network, formed in Daytona Beach, Florida in 1970. “The Motor Racing Network has brought us all so many great calls over the years”, said Spire Motorsports co-owner Jeff Dickerson. “It’s a true honor to collaborate with MRN and celebrate such an incredible milestone at Darlington Raceway. We all have memorable moments that have been narrated by some of the most iconic voices in the sport. Honoring 50 years of MRN is really special.” Although it will be a first for the network to call a race with an MRN car in the field, the nostalgia of the Southern 500, made it an easy decision. “We jumped at the opportunity to partner with Spire Motorsports and Darlington Raceway to celebrate Motor Racing Network’s 50th year during the Bojangles’ Southern 500 weekend,” said Chris Schwartz, President, MRN. “The car looks terrific and represents so many talented folks that have worked for, and on behalf of, the network for five decades.” WSLM was recognized Sunday at the Darlington Raceway for being one of eleven radio stations in nine states that have broadcast NASCAR races since 1970 when MRN was founded. In fact, station owner Rebecca White said WSLM was the longest-running NASCAR station in the Midwest. Hanging out with MRN Announcer Rusty Wallace.Getting a tour of the garage area with Chris McKee from MRNMet lots of drivers from the past and present. Here we talked with Bobby LaBonte before the introduction of the racing legends.“My dad – Don H. Martin – started the station in 1953 and began broadcasting races from the local tracks in Southern Indiana as well as Indy 500 races,” said White. “In 1970 WSLM signed up with the newly-created Motor Racing Network, which was started by NASCAR founder Bill Frances.”
